MecAgent is a desktop app that connects to an open SolidWorks session and acts in it: modelling parts from text or STEP files, adding parts to assemblies, applying materials and equations, writing macros, and making drawings from CAD or CAD from drawings as background tasks. It needs Windows 10 or 11 and SolidWorks 2024, 2025 or 2026. There is a free plan with a small monthly allowance; paid plans start at $84 a month.

Works with SolidWorks only for now, so you need a SolidWorks licence. MecAgent says students can use it free through its Free plan.

Who it suits

  • Existing SolidWorks users: MecAgent's requirements are Windows 10 or 11, SolidWorks 2024, 2025 or 2026, and a free MecAgent account.
